According to Hindu mythology,it is believed that the prehistoric Hindu philosopher Shri Adi Shankar Acharya coined the term ‘ Char Dham’. The literal meaning of this term is four abodes of God or Holy Destinations, these four shrines are in the region that is famous for the captivating mountains surrounded by a thick layer of snow and unadulterated atmosphere.

Day 1 - Arrival in Haridwar & Check in into The Hotel
Tucked in the lap of the Himalayas, Char Dham is the spiritual epicenter for Hindus in India. Rejuvenate your spiritual self with this itinerary, offering an excursion to all the Char Dham Temples – Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath.
Begin your journey to seek spiritual enlightenment from Haridwar, where you be meeting the Chardham representative and your holiday partners.
Upon arrival in Haridwar, check-in at the hotel. Relax your tired muscles while sipping a hot cup of tea. Then make your way to the Har ki Pauri Ghat to attend the famous Ganga Aarti (with the special arrangement) – a sunset prayer accompanied by music on the banks of the holy river. The Ghat becomes a sight for sore eyes when the Ganga aarti is performed, with bells ringing and diyas flaming everywhere. Treat your taste buds to a delicious dinner and listen to holy chants during the Bhajan Sandhya before you retire to sleep.
Day 2 - Transfer To Barkot
Begin your day with a delicious meal and embark on a 6-hour drive to reach Barkot, an undisturbed hill station that welcomes one with spectacular views of snow-capped mountains all around. Apart from all the natural beauty, the place is known for being the base camp that leads to the prominent Yamunotri Temple, the seat of Goddess Yamuna. During the 180 kilometers long journey to reach Barkot, you would cut and run through some of the famous gems of Uttarakhand like Dehradun, Mussoorie, Kempty Falls, Nainbagh and Damda. Stretch your legs and enjoy lunch at the stop near the Yamuna Bridge. On your arrival in Barkot, get a traditional welcome at the Chardham Camp. Meet the destination expert and at the camp who would be giving you all the information about the temple, followed by an evening tea. After a long day of travelling, enjoy dinner and indulge your senses in the Katha Saar. After listening to soul-stirring religious songs, retire to the comfortable hotel room for a relaxing overnight stay.
Day 3 - Excursion To Yamunotri Dham
Nothing could be as peaceful as starting your day by listening to the soul-stirring Shlok Saar. After starting your day on such a beautiful note, embark on a drive to Hanuman Chatti via Syanachatti. From Hanuman Chatti, take a local taxi to reach Jankichatti (own expense). Upon arrival in Jankichatti, commence your 6-kilometer trek to reach Yamunotri Dham. The journey would be tiring but the view throughout would be worth all the efforts. Visit the temple of Goddess Yamuna, situated on the bank of the river. See the idol of Yamuna Devi and Ganga Devi inside the revered temple. You could also take a holy dip in the hot spring, which is usually used by the pilgrims to cook rice. After the divine darshan, head back to Barkot. During the trek, enjoy packed lunch. On arrival in the Barkot camp, sample a piping hot cup of tea and then attend the famous evening Aarti. Enjoy dinner and then retire to sleep in the comfortable camp.
Day 4 - Transfer To Harsil
Start your day with scrumptious breakfast and make your way to Harsil, an unspoiled gem of Uttarakhand on the bank of Bhagirathi River. Your journey to this beautiful hamlet would take approximately 7 hours and you will pass by famous Dharasu Bend, Uttarkashi, and Uttarkashi Vishwanath temple. Make your long journey a relaxing one by stopping at Gangnani to take a dip in the hot spring. Enjoy a delicious local lunch at Uttarkashi and refuel your systems for the journey ahead. You will receive a traditional welcome at Harsil and check-in at the Chardham camp. After a short tea break, find your way to Mukhwas Village, a popular tourist’s attraction that is hardly a kilometer away from Harsil. Mukhwas Village is mainly known for being the winter abode of Goddess Gangotri during snowfall, making the place pure and beautiful. People visit here in large numbers to worship the Goddess and admire the beauty of the place. Indulge in a hot cup of tea and then meet the experts who would tell you more about the temple and the goddess. After your tour, head on for dinner and then return to your room for a comfortable overnight stay.
Day 5 - Excursion To Gangotri Dham
Start your day by undertaking a nature walk to Wilson House, 1.5 kilometers from the camp. It is the prominent house of Camp- E. Wilson who introduced the villagers of Tehri to the practice of apple cultivation and also built a suspension bridge over Jadganga for local people. Currently, there’s no bridge but one could still see its traces. Having explored the place, head back to the hotel and embark on a 22 kilometers drive to reach the Gangotri Dham, dedicated to Goddess Ganga. The sacred Ganga originates at Gaumukh from the Gangotri glacier, which is 18 km from the town of Gangotri. Take a dip in the holy Ganga, also called Bhagirathi at its origin. Visit the temple to see the small silver idol of Mother Ganga. Perform pooja and relax in the lovely surrounding. Don’t forget to click pictures of the amazing mountain range of the Himalayas and the flowing Bhagirathi. In the afternoon, return back to Harsil for lunch. You will be welcomed back to camp with a cup of hot tea and proceed to enjoy dinner while listening to the soothing Katha Saar in the background. Retire to the comfortable hotel room for a relaxing overnight stay.
Day 6 - Transfer To Guptkashi
Begin your day with a tasty breakfast and proceed to the next destination of the holiday – Guptakashi. The nine-hour drive to Guptkashi will take you through Maneri, Uttarkashi, Srinagar, Agastmuni, and Chandravali temple. Enjoy a stopover at Chaurangi Khal to pay respect at Bagnath Temple and enjoy some refreshment. For the lunch, you would stop at Aabki for guests and Agastmuni for a tea break. Upon arrival in Guptkashi, check in at the Chardham camp. After resting for a while, enjoy a hi-tea and learn deeply about the Kedarnath Temple from your guide for the journey. End the day by relishing a delicious dinner and then retire to sleep.
Day 7 - Excursion To Shri Kedarnath Dham
Post breakfast, proceed to Phata for a helicopter ride till Kedarnath. Visit the Shri Kedarnath Dham, one of the twelve Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva and an important temple among the Panch Kedars (a group of 5 Shiva temples in Garhwal Himalayas). Primary idol of the temple – pyramid shaped Lord Shiva is housed within the Garbha Griha. There’s also a Mandapa inside the temple with idols of Lord Krishna, Pandavas, Draupadi and Kunti. After darshan, aarti and pooja, head back to the Guptakashi Camps in a helicopter. After dinner, retire to sleep in the comfortable camp.
Day 8 - Transfer To Joshimath Via Chopta
Start your day with a delicious breakfast and make your way to Joshimath, a mighty town and a winter abode of Lord Badri. During the 141 kilometers ride, you would be passing by Ukhimath, Chamoli, Pipalkoti, Helang valley and a medicinal forest. Take a short tea break at Chopta, also known as Mini Switzerland. Amidst the dense forest, Chopta offers a majestic view of snow clad mountain ranges and lush green meadows. The Chopta region is rich in varied flora and fauna, with plenty of Rhododendron and Deodar trees all around. Up next, make your way to Joshimath via Helang Valley. On arrival in Joshimath, check-in at the Chardham Camp and then enjoy lunch. Meet the expert and learn more about the temple and the deity residing within.
Day 9 - Excursion To Shree Badrinath Dham
Enjoy breakfast and then proceed to the last temple of the sacred Char Dhaam circuit – Badrinath. Pay your respects at the Shree Badrinath Dham, one of the 108 Divya Desams. An important temple of Lord Vishnu, the temple features a three foot black stone statue of Lord Vishnu with idol of gods like Nar, Narayana, Narad, Ganesha, Garud and Kuber. After seeking divine blessings, spend time at the Mana Village- the last Indian village located near the Indo-China border. The surreal beauty of this tiny tranquil village draws a lot of visitors each year, which is why Mana has been rightly titled as a ‘Tourism Village’ by the Uttarakhand Government. Apart from its natural beauty, the temple is known for its handcrafted woolen shawls and blankets, local herbs, etc. It is also believed that the Pandavas crossed the Mana village en route their journey to the heaven. The Vedic River Saraswati also originates in the Himalayan Mountains that surround this heavenly place. In the evening, return to the camp for dinner and relaxing overnight stay.
Day 10 - Transfer To Rishikesh
Post breakfast, embark on a 254-kilometer ride to reach Rishikesh. Visit Devprayag, the sacred point where Alaknanda and Bhagirathi rivers meet and take the name Ganga or Ganga River. Upon arrival in Rishikesh, check-in at the hotel. After resting for a while, enjoy a cup of hot tea. Up next, attend Ganga Aarti at Parmarth Niketan Ashram. Witness millions of lamps lighting up the Ganga while listening to rhythmic chants. After aarti, head back to the hotel and enjoy a live flute session before you retire to sleep.
Day 11 - Departure From Rishikesh
After a journey filled with enriching and life-changing experiences, prepare to return home with a heart full of memories. Check-out from the hotel and embark on journey back home.

- Clothing: As the temperature varies greatly between day and night (from max. 20 degrees Celsius to min. -16 degrees Celsius) one should prepare accordingly.
- Bring the following items with you: Woolen gloves, Balaclava, Sun hat, Thermal wear, Water bottle, Woolen socks, Towel, Light Jacket, Sunglasses, Sun cream, Torch with extra batteries/bulbs, Muffler, Mask, Raincoat, Sweater, Shirt/T-shirt & Trekking shoes.
List of Things To Bring Along
While you can travel to Chardham, some knowledge on what to expect before you start your journey is helpful. It is good to get in shape before the Yatra with a little exercise, walking, running or aerobics. One needs to carry clothing for both extremes of weather. Evenings are generally cold and warm woolens will be required. We recommend that you bring along the following clothing and accessories:
- Down jacket, thick & thin pullover, windproof jacket, raincoat (with a hood).
- Warm pants, light loose cotton pants, Thermal underpants/long, Thermal vest/warm full t-shirts.
- Cotton full sleeve T-shirts.
- Broken-in pair of ankle high walking boots, light tennis shoes, light rubber sandal & four pairs of woolen socks.
- Warm gloves, large cotton or silk scarf.
- Personal First Aid kit and personal medicines, Flash light.
- Walking Stick – Can be purchased in Gourikund/Hanumanchatti.
Payment Policy
- 30 days or more before date of departure: 25% of total cost.
- 29 – 20 days before date of departure: 50% of total cost.
- 19 – 16 days before date of departure: 100% of total cost
Cancellation Policy
If you Cancel your Holiday
You, or any member of your party, may cancel their travel arrangements at any time. Written notification or an e-mail to that effect from the person who made the booking must be received at our offices. The applicable cancellation charges are as per the published cancellation policy below.
Cancellation Charges Per Person
- Prior to 30 days or more: Booking Fee.
- Between 30-20 days ahead of departure: 50 Percent of tour cost.
- Between 20-15 days of departure: 75 Percent of tour cost.
- 15 days to date of departure: 100 Percent.
- In case of no show: 100 Percent.
If We Change or Cancel Your Holiday
We do plan the arrangements in advance. It is unlikely that we will have to make any changes to your travel arrangements. Occasionally, we may have to make changes and we reserve the right to do so at any time. If there are any changes, we will advise you of them at the earliest possible date. We also reserve the right in any circumstances to cancel your travel arrangements by assigning reasons to you.
If we are unable to provide the booked travel arrangements due to reasons beyond our control (for instance, bad weather): We shall first try to offer you alternative dates for the tour if the tour has not already commenced;
If the tour has already commenced, then we shall refund the booking price/fee charged from you on a pro-rata basis depending on portion of the tour standing utilized by you
In all circumstances, however, our liability shall be limited refunding to you the price we charged as the tour fees.
Change Your Holiday Plan
After confirmation of services, if you wish to change your travel arrangements in any way, for example your chosen departure date or accommodation, we will do our utmost to make these changes but it may not always be possible. Any request for changes to be made must be in writing from the person who made the booking. All cost incurred due to amendment will be borne by yourself.
If You Have a Complaint
If you have a problem during your holiday, PLEASE INFORM THE RELEVANT SUPPLIER, (e.g. your hotelier, transporter etc.) and/or our representative IMMEDIATELY who will endeavour to put things right. If your complaint is not resolved locally, please follow this up within 28 days of your return home by writing to us, giving your booking reference and all other relevant information. However, please be advised that while we are happy to assist you in the redressal of your complaint, if any, we will be able to extend only our best efforts in managing/coordinating your complaint with the respective service provider. All third party service providers are independent contractors who at no time are under our control or supervision.
All the booking voucher and tickets will be provided 3 days prior to departure.
Note:
- All Prices are in Indian Rupees.
- To book and confirm your tour, we request you to deposit a 50% advance. Balance amount to be paid before One Month prior to the commencement of the tour
- We need a list of all the passengers (Name, Age, Gender), along with valid scanned photo id (Passport / Driving License, Voter Card, PAN Card, Adhar Card) of the tour leader
- If the destination of a particular day can’t be reached due to landslides, natural calamities, traffic jams, arrangements of night stay and meals to the nearest availability shall be made at extra cost. Guests shall have to pay this amount in cash to the Hotel. Refunds of the original destination shall not be made.
- If the vehicle is unable to move ahead due to any technical/mechanical fault, alternate arrangements (in vehicle/s available locally, even maybe Jeeps) will be made. Replacement of Vehicle will be made only at Rishikesh / Haridwar as per itinerary.
- If the total duration of the tour is stretched for extra days (due to any natural calamity, landslides, roadblocks, traffic jams), cost from the effective date for the accommodation, meals, and transport shall be charged extra, and tourists have to clear the payment before the conclusion of the tour.
- If the tour is canceled due to any technical reason, government order, our responsibility is up to 100% refund of the tour cost only. REFUNDS TAKE A MINIMUM OF 60 WORKING DAYS. REFUNDS ARE MADE BY A/C PAYEE CHEQUES ONLY AND ARE SENT THROUGH SPEED POSTS ONLY.
Terms & Conditions
- Per person, prices are quoted on a twin-share basis (2 persons sharing a room).
- A maximum of 3 adults are allowed in one room.
- The third occupant of the room shall be provided a mattress/rollaway bed.
- The price does not include –
Expenses of personal nature, such as laundry, telephone calls, room service, alcoholic beverages, mini bar charges, tips, portage, camera fees, etc.
Any meals and services not specifically mentioned in the inclusions. - Airline seats and hotel rooms are subject to availability at the time of booking.
- In case of unavailability in the listed hotels, arrangements for an alternate accommodation will be made in a hotel of a similar standard.
- Check-in and check-out times at hotels would be as per hotel policies. These are generally pre-decided as per ferry operation schedules.
- Transportation shall be provided as per the itinerary and will not be at disposal.
- City museums and monuments remain closed on Mondays while Ross Island remains closed on Wednesdays. If any visit is missed due to closure or maintenance issues, all efforts will be made to cover the sightseeing after returning to Port Blair from Havelock/Neil, time permitting.
- Guests who have pre-booked Scuba or Sea walk shall be provided the activity in Havelock as per time slot availability.
- Snorkeling is a complementary activity and in case this is missed due to any reason, there would be no refund/compensation for the same.
- It is advisable to seek your doctor’s advice before undertaking activities like Scuba or Sea walk, especially in case of any pre-existing medical issues.
- EWSH reserves the right to modify the itinerary at any point, due to reasons including but not limited to Force Majeure events, strikes, fairs, festivals, weather conditions, traffic problems, overbooking of hotels/flights, cancellation / re-routing of flights, closure of / entry restrictions at a place of a visit, etc. While we will do our best to make suitable alternate arrangements, we would not be held liable for any refunds/compensation claims arising out of this.
- It is mandatory for all guests to carry valid photo IDs (Passport/Driving License/Voter ID Card). PAN Card is not accepted at many places as a valid photo ID.
- Foreign Nationals need to clear immigration at Port Blair, where they are issued with a RAP (Restricted Area Permit) free of cost. This permit is to be carried by the foreign national at all times and would be required at the time of check-in at the hotel, during security checks before boarding vessels, landing on every island, etc. It is mandatory to carry a valid original passport and visa in order to obtain the RAP. Photocopies/scan copies are not accepted.
- In case Makruzz/Coastal Cruise are not operational due to weather, technical, or other unavoidable reasons, EWS Holidays shall make the best possible alternate arrangements. However, EWS Holidays will not be liable for any refund claims arising from this.
- If your flights involve a combination of different airlines, you may have to collect your luggage on arrival at the connecting hub and register it again while checking in for the return journey to your origin.
- Service Tax shall be applicable over and above the mentioned prices.

- Disputes, if any, shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in New Delhi.
